iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 are Apple's new smartphones for the current and upcoming year. With the new iPhones Apple introduces new colors, enhances the interior with the new A13 Bionic and equips two of the three new models with triple camera. The shoots photos in addition with ultra wide angle.
New Super Retina XDR display
Not iPhone XI, but iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the new smartphone flagships in Apple's portfolio. As with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the distinction primarily takes place via the OLED display, which is 5.8 inches tall on the iPhone 11 Pro and 6.5 inches on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The new panel, called “Super Retina XDR”, offers a contrast of up to 2,000,000: 1 (previously 1,000,000: 1) and a top brightness of 1,200 cd / m², just like the Galaxy Note 10+. The typical maximum brightness raises Apple from 625 cd / m² to 800 cd / m². 3D Touch has swapped Apple for all new iPhones for the new Haptic Touch, which removes the previous intensity detection and only responds to long holding the iOS user interface with haptic feedback – a downgrade so.
IP68 up to 4 meters
The case is once again made of stainless steel instead of aluminum, while the back is adorned with a matt layer of resistant glass, available in Gold, Space Gray, Silver and Midnight Green. The IP68 protection increases Apple up to a water depth of 4 meters instead of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes.
Triple camera with new ultra wide angle
The new camera of the iPhone 11 Pro comes with three lenses, including a main camera with 12 megapixels and f / 1.8, a zoom camera with 12 megapixels and f / 2.0 and an ultra wide angle with again 12 megapixels and f / 2.4. The 35 mm equivalents are 26 mm, 52 mm and 13 mm. For photos Apple wants to introduce an update for iOS 13 for the fall of the new deep-fusion photography, which caches before pressing the shutter eight photos, the best pixels of which combined with the best pixels of the image when pressing the shutter button and so the final Photo completely composed of SoC's Neural Engine. In the area of video, the 4K-60-FPS mode now has the extended dynamic range, which was only offered up to 4K with 30 FPS. The latter is now offered for the first time on the front camera.
A13 Bionic is faster and more economical
As a processor, the new Apple A13 Bionic in new 7-nm production is used, with Apple probably here on TSMC including EUV sets. The CPU offers two performance cores that are 20 percent faster and 30 percent more economical than the A12 Bionic. Four Efficiency cores are also 20 percent faster and 40 percent more economical. The four-core GPU is also 20 percent faster and 40 percent more fuel-efficient than last year. Last but not least, Apple's Neural Engine works 20 percent faster and works 15 percent more economically.
Batteries with up to 5 hours longer runtime
The new processor in combination with new batteries (unknown size) will lead to four hours longer battery life for the iPhone 11 Pro and five hours longer battery life for the iPhone 11 Pro Max – compared to the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max. Apple gives for the iPhone 11 Pro 18 hours for offline video, 11 hours for streaming video and 65 hours for music. For the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the data for the same tasks is 20 hours, 12 hours and 80 hours.
Charging with 18 watts
For the first time Apple launches its smartphones with 18 watts instead of 5 watts significantly stronger power supply. The batteries can also be recharged wirelessly via Qi standard.
iPhone 11 follows the iPhone XR
iPhone 11 without Pro addition is the successor to the iPhone XR. The glass of the front and back should be more stable than ever before. The colors Black, Green, Yellow, Purple, Red and White are available. The case comes again with IP68 protection, but here only up to a depth of 2 meters. The display is again 6.1 inches tall and is again based on an LCD panel. As in the previous year, the OLED displays are reserved for the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro (Max).
Dual camera with ultra wide angle
For the first time a dual camera is installed in the cheaper iPhone, which works on the main camera with 12 megapixels at f / 1.8 and with optical image stabilization. The second lens is not a zoom lens like the iPhone XS, but an ultra wide angle with also 12 megapixels at f / 2.4, but without OIS. In this point, Apple adjusts the camera equipment to many of the last presented Android smartphones. A new camera app with semi-transparent areas on the left and right gives a preview of the ultra-wide-angle motif, which can be brought into the viewfinder by touch.
Portraits are calculated on the iPhone 11 no longer only via the processor, but via the parallax of the second lens, which was previously only possible with the iPhone XS (Max). Also new is a night mode for photos in low light, which automatically activates under appropriate conditions. In this mode, Apple merges multiple shots to capture significantly more light in multiple stages. This mode is also available for the iPhone 11 Pro (Max). Also in this point, Apple is equal to the competition, which is especially for Google Pixel smartphones and Huawei P smartphones for some time to find.
Higher dynamic range in 4K with 60 FPS
In video mode, the extended dynamic range is no longer limited to 4K with 30 FPS, but also 4K with 60 FPS. Video recording is possible on both full-resolution, full dynamic range lenses and all other video features. On the front, the TrueDepth camera now also works with 12 megapixels and also allows video recording in 4K, with the higher dynamic range is limited to 30 FPS. Selfie portraits with the normal front camera continue to shoot at 7 megapixels.
Apple A13 Bionic with faster CPU and GPU
In terms of system-on-a-chip, the iPhone 11 is powered by the same Apple processor that is also in the iPhone 11 Pro (Max): the A13 Bionic. When the battery Apple advertises with a now 1 hour longer running time compared to the iPhone XR.
