Facebook and Instagram "suggestive" removing comments containing emojis from their platform

Facebook and Instagram announced that it will remove comments from the platform of emojis used for sexual allusions. Emojis that cause comments to be removed include eggplant, peaches and water drops such as emojis. According to Facebook's new Community Standards, these emojis are used contextually specifically and for sexual issues in general.

Under the new community standards, Facebook and Instagram will mark users who request or place “direct or indirect” content linked to gender, nudity or sexuality.

Until now, users who try to express certain terms with emojis are thought to have difficulty using emojis. Facebook and Instagram, especially by artists criticized about censorship, the emojis will be under the lens of people who drew attention.

On the other hand, considering that the same emojis are sent to users by malicious people and harassed by users, we can say that the new community rules to be applied by the company are an important step towards keeping the platform cleaner.
