Every two weeks, a game is given away at the Epic Games Store. As of today, the almost two-year-old point-and-click adventure Thimbleweed Park is available free of charge. With a retro-pixel look, the work of the creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion looks older than it is.
It was exactly this journey into the 1980s that Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick had intended and financed the game a few years ago through a Kickstarter campaign.
Not only the look, but also options and menus are reminiscent of said classics. The story also takes place in 1987, in which two FBI agents investigate a murder case near the small town of Thimbleweed Park. The adventure was released in March 2017. Epic Games is giving away the version for Windows PCs. The audio edition is in English, but the lyrics have also been translated into German.
Thimbleweed Park is free until March 7, 2019. However, a free registration with Epic Games is required.
When the action is over, the next free game will be unlocked in the Epic Games Store: Slime Rancher is part of the Life Simulation genre and is about growing slimy creatures on an alien planet.
