The GX290 is Gigaset's first ruggedized alias “ruggedized” smartphone, featuring a large 6,200 mAh battery, IP68 certification, NFC, dual camera, Octa Core processor, Face ID and a fingerprint sensor. The price is 299 euros.
The ruggedly designed case features a 7.1-inch Notch 19.5: 9 aspect ratio IPS display with a resolution of 1,560 × 720 pixels and Gigaset's typical 580 cd / m² brightness and contrast 1000: 1 reached. So it should remain readable even in direct sunlight. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The pixel density is 283 ppi. The 6,200 mAh battery can also be charged wirelessly with Fast Wireless Charging at up to 15 watts – a full charge should take about 3 hours. Gigaset promises a standby time of 550 hours with two SIM cards and a talk time of up to 24 hours in the 3G / 4G network. The video playback should be 12 hours, the music playback up to 100 hours. Also via the USB-C port, the GX290 supports fast charging with 18 watts, but can also charge other connected USB devices.

As SoC Gigaset relies in the GX290 on a MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763 with eight cores, which clock with up to 2.0 GHz and in addition to LTE Cat-6 also supports VoLTE and VoWiFi. Metal frame for a fighting weight of 279 grams
The GX290 comes to a weight of 279 grams, which comes through a two-component TPU injection molded housing with a reinforcing metal frame. The GX290 measures 162.4 × 79 × 15.3 mm. With IP68 certification, it provides protection against water (permanent submersion) and dust (dust-proof). The fingerprint sensor sits on the back of the smartphone and offers, for example, with the scrolling through screen pages more functions, so that this is possible with a secure grip even with one hand. The 8 MP front camera also supports face recognition to unlock the GX290.
