Google is working on a reissue of the Google Home Mini, the company's cheapest smart speaker with Google Assistant. Following the internal merger of the Home and Nest teams, the new loudspeaker will be launched as the Nest Mini.

As 9to5Google From a reliable source, the new Nest mini speaker is also designed to provide an integrated wall mount and a much better, louder sound with more bass than the Home Mini. The sources could not say exactly what the wall mount would be like, but it is probably just a recess on the underside of the loudspeaker so that it can be hung on a screw. However, the design of the speaker should not differ significantly from the first generation, but may only be slightly larger – this step has gone Amazon at the new Echo Dot, in order to realize a better sound.

New features, which still lack details

In addition, the new Nest Mini will have a 3.5mm audio port, as offered by the Amazon Echo Dot. Whether he serves as input or output in the Nest Mini is not yet known. Furthermore, the speaker is to provide some form of proximity detection, as this is implemented, but is also still unknown. The same applies to the price, even if it can be assumed that it will again be around 50 euros and thus at the level of the competition.

Moving from Nest to Google with limitations

With the Google Nest Hub (test) and the Nest Hub Max, Google had begun to bring home products under the Nest brand on the market. Only a few days ago, Google also created the option to transfer Nest user accounts to the Google user account as part of the abolition of the “Works with Nest” program, which also eliminated the IFTTT functionality and the Nest cameras Support for Alexa skills leads. There is still no compulsion to transfer the Nest user account to the Google Account. The automation service IFTTT is currently warning of an irreversible changeover.

Do not migrate your Nest account to a Google account. Migrating your Nest account will cause IFTTT and other Works with Nest integrations to be disconnected. This process is not reversible.
Do not disconnect Nest from IFTTT after August 31st as you will not be able to reconnect it. These are the users that do not migrate their accounts to a Google one.
