Already for months is speculated about a cheaper offshoot of Google smartphone Pixel 3, previously called “Pixel 3 Lite”. 9to5Google now wants to have reliable information on the names and the technical features of the now referred to as Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones.
The two models with a 5.6-inch display on the Pixel 3a and a 6.0-inch display on the Pixel 3a XL are said to have the Pixel 3 XL camera, which was also praised by ComputerBase in the test, the starting price for a pixel Lower smartphone by otherwise cheaper hardware though. The main camera would therefore have 12.2 megapixels with 4K support, an aperture of f / 1.8 and an optical image stabilizer offer. Whether the spectral and flicker sensors are actually eliminated is not yet certain. Also, the front camera is the cheaper model 8 megapixels offer as the Pixel 3 (XL), although it is not known whether the sensor is the same. The second front camera should be omitted.
OLED display but slower SoC
Despite the cheaper price, the Pixel 3a is currently using the 5.6-inch display on an OLED panel with 1080 × 2,220 pixels. This would result in a pixel density of 440 ppi. To what extent this is true or the 5.56-inch display is used with 1,080 × 2,160 pixels from the Pixel 3, remains to be seen. Instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 from the Pixel 3 (XL), however, only one Snapdragon 670 is used. The RAM should turn out to 4 GB at the Pixel 3a (XL) again identical to the more expensive model.
The battery of the smaller model should have a capacity of 3,000 mAh. The extent to which the Pixel 3a XL technically differs from the smaller version and how big the battery in this model fails, is not yet known. Both models are to provide an eSIM and have 64 GB of internal memory. If this is the only variant, this would be another difference to the Pixel 3 (XL), which is also available with 128 GB of internal memory. Thus, the information from 9to5Google largely coincide with the previous information, which, however, spoke of only 32 GB of internal memory.
Both smartphones should come in white and black on the market. Also the already published pictures of the new models should correspond to the actual appearance. There is no news about the market launch, most recently the May of this year was traded. The price is still unknown, but should be well below the official selling price of the Pixel 3 (XL).
