In a tweet, Elon Musk announced that a new powertrain would be produced to speed up the Tesla Model S, Model X and Roadster. Elon Musk on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as tweets on Tesla's Twitter account, revealed that the company is working on a new, higher capacity powertrain.
Yes. To be clear, Plaid powertrain is about a year away from production & applies to S, X & Roadster, but not 3 or Y. Will cost more than our current offerings, but less than competitors.

This power transmission mechanism, Plaid, will be replaced by the Model S Sedan, Model X SUV and Roadster sports car within a year. However, the Model 3 sedan or Model Y SUV will not use this technology.
The Tesla team was inspired by a scene in the Spaceballs film, while naming this new mechanism. With this name, the film refers to an unusually high-speed spacecraft.

In fact, Musk tweeted today, “The only thing beyond Ludicrous is Plaid.” At this point, it is worth remembering that Ludicrous is a driving setting in the Model S and Model X, which maximizes the speed of the car. Tesla, meanwhile, has not given detailed information about Plaid yet.
It should be reminded that Rimac, the electric vehicle company, where Porche bought more shares recently, came forward with the C Two car making 411 kilometers per hour. The car, which can climb from zero to 96 km / h in 1.85 seconds, leaves behind Tesla's Roadster prototype with its speed. Tesla may be preparing to strengthen its competition with Rimac with Plaid production.
