About eight months after the release of Android 9, local users of the Moto Z3 Play (test) and the Moto G6 Plus (test) will also receive the latest version of Google's operating system: Motorola has begun distributing Android 9 Pie in Germany.
Even if Motorola does not deliver Android One, users still receive a virtually unadulterated Android system, only the guarantee for updates is not given here. In addition to numerous bug fixes and innovations such as the new gesture control and the non-annoying mode, the new Digital Wellbeing dashboard with an overview of App and Smartphone usage, Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness both models are due to the new Android version with a better performance.
On the other hand, the manufacturer does not show any good hand when it comes to security patches: While the version for the Moto Z3 Play as of February 2019 can already be considered slightly outdated, the manufacturer of the Moto G6 Plus even resorts to old adjustments from December 2018.
Since Motorola waves the new version for both smartphones, it may take some time for all users to receive notification of the update.
